Critical Overview & Mentoring
Have you reached a point in your artistic journey where you have become frustrated and confused by your work?
Do you sense the need for some guidance aimed at taking the direction of your work to the next level?
Participating in a Critical Overview critique will help to resolve these issues and build the momentum needed for advanced growth.
A critique of a single painting can offer solutions to an individual work of art. However, it often doesn’t address the artist’s larger issue of developing a unique voice and moving forward with one’s oeuvre. This is where the Critical Overview comes into play.
Here is the procedure:
1. The process is initiated with a 30 minute phone call during which we will discuss such things as your goals, perceived problems, influences, and artistic expectations.
2. You send 10-12 images of your work, your website address, and social media platform address(es) to me. This will enable me to research and engage deeply with the entirety of your work.
3. I’ll review your work, take notes and photoshop images in order to present formal or conceptual issues that I see within your body of work.
4. Finally we will have a 2 hour conversation going over some of the individual paintings and most importantly their relationship to your whole body of work. If applicable, we may also discuss your website/social media inclusions and their contribution to how your work is being represented to the public.
Our objective will be to highlight your strengths and weaknesses and discover aspects of your work that are trending toward a definitive artistic personal style.
